Ric Rogers - Guitar

Ric guitar teacher at HippyKritz Music in Abilene

Hey there, I am Ric Rogers, lead guitarist for the Texas Country/Southern Rock band Three Shades Blue, 2nd guitarist for the Happy Fat Band, and a teacher of guitar and guitar-related theory at HippyKritz Music & More.

I was born into a musical family. As far back as we can trace my family history there have been musicians. My Grandfather, and my mother toured the Southwest, and I continue their legacy.

I have been playing guitar for 25 years, and playing professionally for 22 years. My playing experience covers most genres of music, and I have played all over Texas, in major and minor markets. I have opened for name acts, and was recently honored with the award for 2010 Blue & Rock Gazette Guitarist of the Year. I have been teaching full-time for over two years, and have taught off-and- on for the majority of my musical career.

My approach to chord and scale theory is to teach it in a practical way. Whether you are a total beginner, or a seasoned player who wants to "get out of the pentatonic box" I have something to offer. I teach most styles, from country, blues, funk, rock, pop, to heavy metal. I believe in making each of my students a "complete" guitarist. This means you will also learn to care for your instrument... Everything from string change, set-up, neck adjustment, to electronics and how to wire a guitar, even pedal modification!

Your guitar experience belongs to YOU, and I will help you find YOUR style. I will not only teach you a song, but what the guitarist was thinking when he played the way he did, and in turn you will learn to use those methods to develop your own style.

Hope to see you soon!
Ric

Eric Anderson - Percussion

Eric percussion teacher at HippyKritz Music in Abilene

Hello music fans. I am Eric Anderson, sole proprietor of Anderson’s Percussive Services and a working percussionist in Abilene. I started playing percussion instruments 36 years and enjoy them now more than ever. Currently I am the Tony Barker Band’s drummer. I have also supported the Screaming Moon Dogs, Kirk House, and Vincent Alan Dawson since arriving in November, 2009. I became a member of the Abilene music Teachers Association, the Texas Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association in September, 2010.

I use a collection of different resources to custom fit lessons to each student’s wants and needs. After all, each musician has hers or his goals in mind when deciding to take lessons. My one objective is to ensure the musicians have the skills and knowledge required to reach their personal goals. Current students are preparing for Drum Line and Percussion Section auditions and studying songs from the Outfield, Michael Jackson and Kidd Rock. My more recent students are learning the fundamentals of greater stick and pedal control and soon will be exploring their chosen field of study.

Please email me at apsdrums@gmail.com for lesson availability and rates as well as any other percussion related issues

Ryan D - Guitar

Ryan D the Guitar Teacher at HippyKritz Music in Abilene

Howdy! My name is Ryan D. and I’ve been playing guitar for over 30 years.

For the past 10 years, I have founded and played in Classic Rock and Blues cover bands in Austin, TX, where I’ve played some pretty awesome venues, such as Antones, La Zona Rosa, The Lucky Lounge, The Hardrock Cafe, The Victory Grill, Nutty Brown Cafe, and The Pier. That sure was a ton of fun.

If you have ever dreamed of playing on a big stage, or if your goal is just to play in your living room, I can help. Like so many, I was put off by a teacher who was hung up on teaching how to read music and it delayed my guitar playing by almost a decade. My approach is to help you get to where you want to be instead of forcing you down a path you aren’t interested in. Guitar playing should be fun — that will be the focus if you take lessons with me.
